IPFW - Dare to Imagine

Boyden & Youngblutt

Wind turbines, jumping fish, and intergalactic travels intermingle to create this broadcast spot for Indiana University and Purdue University’s branch campus. Working with our friends at Boyden-Youngblutt, we surround three characters with their ideas bursting to life as they consider enrolling at IPFW.

The Process

Boyden-Youngblutt approached us with a solid idea: students and potential students watching their ideas come to life and literally fly off the page. We created a series of style frames to help everyone visualize what the end result could look like.

Getting a Closer Look

Once all parties had signed off on the look, we moved into production. To conserve budget, we shot the spot in our studio, obtaining three distinct looks through creative framing and lighting. The savings were then appropriated for the animation budget.

"I think at first we were a little concerned about meshing these different styles together, but it really makes the spot that much more dynamic in the end."

The final illustrative elements really pop off the screen.

Combining live action with motion design is one of our favorite techniques here at Spacejunk. This spot is a perfect example of it.
