30th Birthday

Fahlgren Mortine

We always tell people that merging live action and motion graphics is our ‘sweet spot’, the thing we feel we do best. So we were happy to put those skills on display for Fahlgren Mortine and the West Virginia Lottery for this fun promo. From pathetic to party, we had a blast transforming this dude’s humble abode into a rollicking celebration of cash and friends.

The Process

Storyboards are essential elements to almost any successful production, but when we're merging live action with visual effects, it becomes even more important to have detailed boards to make sure everyone knows what we're capturing in camera and what we're handling in post-production.

Before/After

This Before/After video is fun to watch. It gives some great insight into the process and it's always interesting to see what we decide to tackle in camera and what makes more sense to do via CGI. Especially cool is seeing how the practical lights we fired on set correspond with the CG elements we deployed in post. It all adds up to seamless visual effects.

"The glass of milk was a key component to our character. We had a lot of fun crafting his environment to make his transition as funny and striking as possible."

Party favors galore.
